01The story

Hi, I’m Jonyull.

Black-and-white portrait of Jonyull Kosinski
Jonyull Kosinski

I’m a health and human performance coach on the Windward side of Oʻahu, and I’ve built my career around one idea: the body and mind can do far more than people think when they’re trained with a plan and with care.

In August 2024 I lost my mom, Sharon Gwendolyn Kosinski, to laryngeal cancer.

In April 2027 I’ll line up at the start of the Marathon des Sables: 250 kilometers across the Sahara Desert, self-supported, carrying everything I need on my back. I’m running it with her, and I’m raising money to support cancer rehabilitation care for people who are fighting for their strength and their agency.

Running for

My mom, and cancer rehabilitation care

What I believe.

  1. Consistency with exercise can mitigate much of the dysfunction that leads to disease.

  2. Challenging things are far more worth doing when they’re done for someone other than yourself.

  3. Showing up in small increments, consistently, matters more than any single big day.

Sharon Gwendolyn Kosinski · Mom

My mom was, and still is, a superhero in our family. Not because of our loss of her to disease; because of her impact, her presence, and her ability to problem-solve anything in her path, for us and for herself.

She taught me how to stand up for myself, how to grow through pain points, and to never take no for an answer. The magic she created with her heart and soul lives on in my sisters and me.

I know she would be proud, and that’s why she’s running in the desert with me.

What this moment is for

This race is the hardest, most involved event I’ve ever signed up for, and I wanted the reason to be bigger than me. Every kilometer is for Sharon and for the families still in the middle of it.
